Philosophy of the Pre-School Program

The Early Childhood Program is designed to provide diverse experiences to introduce and develop important readiness concepts and skills in a nurturing environment.  The teacher's role is to offer many opportunities to enrich the children's experience by providing a wide variety of activities that stimulate their natural curiosity.  The varying needs, interests and abilities of each child in the class are met by adapting a developmentally appropriate curriculum utilizing a hands-on approach.

The teacher collaborates with the parents in sharing religious beliefs and values with the children.  Stories, songs and prayer, as well as service projects, focus on God's love for us and His presence in all that we do.

Goals of the Pre-School Program

1. To provide experiences that meet children's needs in their physical, social, emotional, cognitive and spiritual development.
2. To develop a high self-esteem in each individual through a positive feeling toward learning.
3. To develop social skills through play and through interaction with adults as well as peers.
4. To provide cognitive development activities through concrete and "hands-on" materials.
5. To provide an environment based on trust.
